Letter from the President
As Lyndon State College nears the end of its first century and prepares for its second, we must define what role Lyndon will play in the lives of our students, our community, our State, and beyond. Initially established as a one-year normal school preparing teachers for the schoolhouses in Vermont’s most rural region, Lyndon has grown in its first 100 years into a public, four-year, accredited college that blends a liberal arts education with professional studies for 1,400 students.
In this evolution, Lyndon has heightened its commitment to prepare every student for personal and professional success through experience-based, high-quality programs in the liberal arts and professional studies. As a result, we have developed nationally competitive academic programs and an ever-deepening commitment to first-in-family students, whose dream is to graduate from college.
In our first 100 years, we have evolved as a college and as a neighbor in the Northeast Kingdom. Lyndon has become the academic and professional center of this 2,000-square-mile region that unites a wide range of Vermont communities under a shared identity. And while the challenges in the Northeast Kingdom are great, the opportunities are even greater.
Help us launch The Second Century Campaign. Share with us A New View of a transformed Lyndon State College as it helps to transform the Northeast Kingdom. For it is a rare opportunity, in the context of this $10 million campaign, to connect the aspirations of our students, the talent of our faculty, and the dedication of our staff with public and private regional partners. Our role as a center of gravity for education and economic development in Vermont’s most rural region is more important now than it has ever been.
Please join us in helping to build student success at every level. Your support of this campaign will help us advance academic excellence and promote student success while ensuring a prosperous future for our students and the surrounding region.
Carol A. Moore, President, Lyndon State College
